PhD students Fedor Getman, Maksim Makarenko and Arturo Burguete Lopez have submitted, alongside Andrea Fratalocchi, for a patent in the United States for a new ultraflat meta-optics technology for wavefront egineering.

The patent USPTO application 62/799,324, describes an advanced and yet low cost device that is designed with the aid of an Autonomous Learning Framework for Rule-based Evolutionary Design (ALFRED), a proprietary artificial intelligence parallel material design platform based on evolutionary algorithms and graph neural networks.
