Arturo Burguete Lopez was awarded second place at the Falling Walls lab competition that took place at KAUST last Tuesday. Falling walls is an intenational conference on future breakthroughs in science and society sponsored by multiple gubernamental, industrial and academic partners. Each year a global competition is launched to select 100 scientists and professionals to present breakthrough research at the main event in Berlin. These 100 individuals are selected from a pool of candidates based on their ability to present their ideas in 3 minutes at selected locations around the world.

Under normal circumstances only the first place of the competition held at a given location is given the possibility to go to Berlin. In this case, on the grounds of the high impact of the reasearch presented, the judges decided Arturo should also be given the opportunity of showcasing his work at Berlin.
